The Archivist, a short story that gives you a peek inside the post-apocalyptic world depicted in the Book of Ruin series. In this short tale, you will meet Father Taras, the last member of the Holy Order of Archivists. Cossacks brought the archivist to their settlement to die after rim bandits fell upon him during a robbery. He begged them to take his Books of Ruin to a monastery for safekeeping. For generations, friarmonks inspired by God recorded in the books wisdoms about the fall of the realms and the times since the Flash. The Cossack chieftain orders Father Petryk, a young Orthodox priest, to take the books to the monastery. But before he does, Father Petryk reads the codices, and the words change him.
